you can see the magical sight of the castle ruins floating above the clouds.
Ritsuunkyo has three observation decks; the third is about a 5-minute climb up the mountain.

When a sea of clouds appears
A sea of clouds is a magical scene in which fog forms in the valleys and spreads out like an ocean.
It is most likely when the air near the ground cools overnight (radiative cooling).
It tends to appear early in the morning when the following conditions come together.
- 1. The temperature drops from the previous night, with a difference of 10°C or more from the daytime
- 2. Clear skies and little wind
- 3. High humidity since the day before, with plenty of moisture in the air
The more of these conditions come together, the better your chance of seeing a beautiful sea of clouds.
Access
- About 15 min by car from the hotel
- About 15 min by taxi from
JR Wadayama Station (San'in Line)
* There is no bus service to Ritsuunkyo. If you take a taxi, please book it in advance.

Stone walls standing quietly on a mountaintop, with a sweeping view beyond.
Takeda Castle Ruins are one of the symbols of Asago, showing a different face with each season and time of day.
From the summit, you look down on the town and layer upon layer of mountains.
On autumn and early winter mornings, when conditions are right, a sea of clouds fills the valley
and the castle ruins seem to float in the sky.
The long history carved into the stone walls, and the scenery spreading out before you.
Take a short trip and enjoy a moment you can only find in Asago.
